Supplies

Make sure you have these items ready:

  • Cuticle Push (preferably metal)
  • File (grit 100/180)
  • Buffer block (or a fine file of grit 180/220)
  • Cellulose swabs
  • Alcohol (70%)

Step 1: Push back cuticles

While this chore isn't always fun, it's essential. Pushing back your cuticles:

  • Create more nail surface, which ensures better adhesion and less rapid outgrowth.
  • Removes the skin attached to the nail, which creates a smooth surface.

Here's how to do it:

  • Use a cuticle stick to gently push back the cuticles.
  • Carefully scrape away any skin residue with the sharp edge of the goat leg.

Step 2: Filing

Filing your nails is optional, but we recommend it for a perfect result.

Why file?

  • It provides a smooth surface so that the paint adheres better.
  • It helps you to shape your nails into the desired shape.

Step 3: Buffering

Buffering is necessary to remove the shiny layer from your nails.

Why is this important?

  • Smooth nails prevent the polish from adhering properly.
  • A slightly roughened nail provides more grip for the products.

Please note: Buff gently as over-buffing can thin your nails and increase the chance of breakage.

Step 4: Remove dust

After filing and buffing, dust particles remain. These must be completely removed before you start.

What should you do?

  • Use a soft brush or hygiene wipes to remove the dust.
  • Don't : Wash your hands! Water can make you wait at least 60 minutes before you can start.

Step 5: Clean nails

Cleaning your nails is the last and most important step.

Here's how to do it:

  • Take a cellulose swab or cloth and soak it with 70% alcohol.
  • Rub each nail thoroughly to remove grease and dust.
  • Check that there are no more shiny spots. If necessary, you can lightly buff them and repeat the cleaning step.
